To provide XK owners and restorers a professional, but friendly service in providing quality reproduction, genuine, re-conditioned or used parts in an expedient and cost effective manner. Introduction In this year of the Millennium we celebrate our 32nd year of trading. Yes, 32 years of providing XK owners with the spares to maintain their cars, and help keep them on the road. Last year we moved to larger premises in order to support the increase in our range of parts and accessories/special equipment parts. A further milestone demonstrating our passion and commitment to you, our customers, combined with our determination to provide the highest standard of reproduction parts and service to the XK community. Our comprehensive spare parts catalogue is constantly being updated and has been developed to help you to identify the parts you need. It also contains those little snippets of information which makes your life easier in identifying the correct parts you require, and helps to indicate other items you may have overlooked. No, not everything is available new, some of the more obscure or complex parts can only be obtained second hand, or as an exchange, reconditioned unit, but naturally over the years we have built up a stock of these and also a network of friends, owners and traders to whom we can call upon to search out these rarer parts. Maintaining stock is just as big a headache as it has ever been, due to old suppliers disappearing, but we are always developing new quality assured supplies and are still investing in new tooling to expand or improve our already comprehensive quality product range. Our survival depends on our customers wanting to come back and we do endeavour to overcome any concerns raised regarding the quality of some reproduction parts available, so please keep us updated, as we appreciate your feedback. We are very proud of our good reputation within our industry and it does speak for itself. Thank you for your continued custom, look for us on the net.Our website www.xk-parts.com. In the beginning......... 1969 what a year. Jaguar's fabulous XJ6 had
been out for barely 12 months and the E-type still had only six cylinders. Nostalgia had
yet to become fashionable. The sixties were coming to a close and the motoring world was
looking forward. What use were old cars except to a few eccentrics? Weren't they just
clutter, dated and without style? Today and tomorrow Stuart MacNeill was already organising the tea when I arrived at their Torrington Avenue premises. Stuart, manager of Coventry Auto Components, is a true enthusiast and is helped by a very dedicated Lorna Jarrett "I love the job" said Stuart" Like Trevor, my dad was an apprentice at Standard Triumph so I've been around cars all my life." He joined Coventry Auto Components on St.Valentine's Day 1994. Before that he'd worked for Unipart, then was at Jaguar for six years, mainly in the stores. By the launch of the XJ40 he was the youngest storeman in the company and became a group leader. But redundancy programmes arrived and Stuart became a victim. Then his current position became available. It was almost too good to be true. Just 10 minutes from home and working with the type of cars he loves. "It was a baptism of fire when I arrived" said Stuart,"l thought I knew Jaguars but I had to step back 30 years and brush up on my history.Stuart brought with him modern systems and new ideas. One of his first tasks was to look at the entire way spares were sourced, improving efficiency and raising standards. This soon led to many parts being reduced in price. The momentum has been maintained with constant attention to improving existing items as well as introducing new lines - if you boast of stocking the complete range, then you must do just that. Making slow-moving obscure parts is often as costly as introducing high turnover items. But it has to be done and sometimes it results in a surprise. Stuart told me of the automatic XK's plastic selector display, unavailable for years. As automatic XK's were both rare and apparently in little demand, it was assumed that these parts would be too. Stuart had a few enquires though and decided to have a batch made. Expecting to stock large numbers for years he virtually sold out in no time.
Coventry Auto Components started by dealing in new factory parts but as these were exhausted, they moved into
reproduction. Additionally; although not widely broadcast they have always stocked
second-hand parts.
Coventry Auto Components is not a multi-national company. It does not dabble in Jaguar spares in general. It is specific and effective.Trevor Scott-Worthington is possibly one of the most focused enthusiasts I have met. He has the respect of all the trade and the integrity of the old school, yet he is modest and would be the last to shout aloud about his company (he now has Stuart to do that for him!). His quietly spoken manner is nonetheless authoritative and self assured. As long as there are XK's on the road, Coventry Auto Components will surely be there to keep them running. |

![]() PROTECTING THE CUSTOMER The Jaguar Specialists Association was formed primarily to protect the customer. Any Jaguar is a specialist car and is inevitably costly to restore and maintain, and owners therefore need an assurance that the work or parts they pay for are to an appropriate standard. Using a JSA member ensures that the very necessary specialist knowledge is available and that fair prices will be charged for work carried out and parts supplied. The Association monitors standards and in the rare event of a complaint, will thoroughly investigate the matter and will do everything within its power to assist the customer to achieve a satisfactory conclusion. There are strict entry qualifications for JSA membership. The company must have been operating satisfactorily for a number of years, must have a proven record of competence, and must comply with our very strict code of practice. A copy of which is available on request. Your Jaguar is a fine car which deserves
the best attention. Look for the JSA symbol on any advertisement or
letterhead and safeguard your interests! |
